MAD Cowls which is an abbreviation for Metal Anti Down Draught Cowls. We have been manufacturing chimney cowls and associated ventilation products for over 20 years. In this time we have developed the most comprehensive chimney cowl product range. This consists of anti down draught cowls, birdguards, cappers and spinning chimney cowls. Where applicable many of the products within our range have been tested with British standard certification, however, when this is not required these cowls and birdguards are still made to the same high standards. Good Advice With the increase popularity of stoves an open fires it has become more neccessary to fit various types of chimney terminals to assist with problems experienced. Many websites selling or marketing this type of product concentrate on getting you to buy a chimney cowl, giving little or no information with regard to, what they are made of?, or, how to prolong the life of the product? Burning poor quality fuel such as freshly cut unseasoned wood and or smokeless fuel that has not been verified by Hetas will dramatically reduce the life of chimney cowls and any associated components within the chimney itself. Our recommendation when burning wood is to buy seasoned wood from a reliable source, or to ensure you purchase a wood moisture meter to check the moisture content is within limits. It is also important that proper chimney maintenance is adhered by qualified personnel at the appropriate intervals. Non compliance with the above will void any guarantee that is offered with individual products. |
